A day in the life of a Pickup Driver (essential functions):

  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  • Exhibits behaviors that reflect the company core values: Teamwork, Integrity, Tenacity, Compassion & Diversity
  • Complies with all federal, state and local laws, regulations, and company driving policies
  • Maneuvers trucks into loading or unloading positions and ensures vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned
  • Weighs in material and places it in designated area
  • Secures cargo for transport using appropriate methods
  • Performs daily pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections and reports any safety issues immediately
  • Maintains company equipment inside/out in order to ensure both cleanliness and safety
  • Ensures all inbound and outbound shipments are unloaded or loaded within the allotted time frame
  • Assist with trailer inventory as needed
  • Proven ability to work independently while performing a variety of production tasks
  • Operates machinery including but not limited to forklifts, switch truck, truck and trailer and pallet jacks
  • Ensure all trailers that are put in the dock are properly parked and staged.
  • Performs additional duties in the warehouse as necessary
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Abitlity to Read maps, GPS and follow written or verbal geographic directions.
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail
  • Ability to write and respond to routine reports and correspondence
  • Knowledge of Internet, spreadsheet and word processing software
  • Ability to work overtime as required; flexibility to work different shifts as required
  • Ability to respond to customer complaints with respect and consideration
  • Ability to work well under pressure and respond to employees with respect and consideration in a loud, fast-paced environment
  • Requires sitting up to 50% of the shift and walking, standing and lifting up to 50% of the shift
  • Routinely performs repetitive movements such as bending, twisting, reaching, carrying, lifting
  • Routinely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat and outside weather
  • Specific vision requirements include color, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

To get your foot in the door:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D
  • 2 years of verifiable related driving experience
  • Fork-lift experience and the ability to become certified in fork-lift operation
