Quality Inspector

SUMMARY

The Quality Inspector is responsible for maintaining quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products.  Document quality results in quality log and reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct floor inspection of fabricated parts.
  • Conduct first article inspections and PPAP. 
  • Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Approve in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
  • Approve finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for re-work, and confirming re-work.
  • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
  • Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions, and calling for needed repairs.
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following company standards and procedures, and complying with MIOSHA regulations.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, and reading job related technical publications.
  • Follow ISO quality procedures.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years of experience in quality inspection. 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to interpret and analyze technical procedures and form general conclusions or rules.
  • Ability to effectively report research results, present information, and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to document activities and ideas in writing so others will understand.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to improve the quality control process. 
  • Familiar with CAD and quality engineering.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
