CNC Tool Room Attendant

The CNC Tool Room Attendant is responsible for performing daily setup, ordering and maintaining tooling inventory, ordering parts and managing stock and storage. Issues tools, parts, and products to co-workers based on production requirements.


  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.
  • Back-up for performing daily setup.
  • Maintains a safe work environment by ensuring MIOSHA safety rules and regulations are followed.
  • Follows all ISO quality procedures.
  • Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms.
  • Dispose of damaged or defective items, or return them to vendors.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Receive and count stock items, and record data manually or using computer.
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
  • Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
  • Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers.
  • Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.
  • Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.
  • Recommend disposal of excess, defective, or obsolete stock.
  • Issue or distribute materials, products, parts, and supplies to customers or coworkers, based on information from incoming requisitions.
  • Purchase new or additional stock, or prepare documents that provide for such purchases.
  • Advises internal users on the appropriateness of parts, supplies, or materials requested.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports of inventories, price lists, shortages, shipments, expenditures, and goods used or issued.
  • Prepare products, supplies, equipment, or other items for use by adjusting, repairing or assembling them as necessary.
  • Confer with programmers, engineers and sales regarding stock procurement and availability.
  • Compile, review, and maintain data from contracts, purchase orders, requisitions, and other documents in order to assess supply needs.
  • Drive trucks in order to pick up incoming stock or other special assignments.
  • Inspects and measures tools and equipment for defects and wear, visually or using a micrometer, and reports damage or wear to supervisors.
  • Control and implement tool room budget with direction from management and manufacturing department
  • Help determine and quote tooling for larger projects, new orders, and special projects.
  • Assist with production launch.
  • Prepare setup certs before setups are needed in machines.
  • Manage fasteners and other materials needed for parts production.
  • Manage consumable tooling and supplies.
  • Assist with tool ordering.




3 to 6 months of related experience.


  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, work instructions, purchase orders and requisitions.
  • Familiar with data base software, Microsoft Office, and spreadsheet software.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
