Material Handler

Summary

Processes material to be recycled by taking part in various roles to complete needed tasks.

Essential Functions

  • Separates, sorts, and processes all materials by using necessary process machinery to complete tasks.
  • Rotates and assists other team members in various roles as needed.
  • Keeps area neat and clean at all times including at the end of the shift which requires bending, twisting and lifting up to 50 lbs., with assistance, into a container 4' high.
  • Identifies and removes foreign contaminants from conveyor
  • Ensures material is properly inspected by controlling the speed of the conveyor.
  • Ensures line is running at maximum efficiency by running conveyor switches.
  • Recognizes and complies with affected employee Lockout/ Tagout procedures.
  • Reports all mechanical problems to maintenance personnel promptly.
  • Uses required PPE protective equipment as required which includes, but is not limited to, proper ear, eye, hand protection

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
