CNC Setup- 2nd Shift

The CNC Setup position is responsible for set up, operation, and adjustment of CNC equipment.


  • Set up, operate and adjust controls on CNC in accordance with specifications, production drawings, production procedures, and oral instructions.
  • Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions, adjusting machines as necessary.
  • Inspect workpieces for defects, and measure workpieces to determine accuracy of machine operation, using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators and height gages. 
  • Assist with the training of machine operators to ensure product meets customer requirements.
  • Perform minor CNC program edits, as required.
  • Act as a Quality Assurance Representative for the Fabrication Department.
  • Assist in the training of final inspection personnel and, perform final inspections of parts as needed.
  • Examines documents, materials, and products to monitor work processes and assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications.
  • Record production data including volume produced, consumption of raw materials, and location of materials.
  • Follow and comply with mandated ISO quality procedures.
  • Maintains a safe work environment by overseeing employees to make certain MIOSHA, safety rules and regulations are followed.
  • Frequently lift, move, or position materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

1 to 2 years of experience in CNC setup.


Certificate and/or training from a technical school with a focus in CNC. Haas, Mazak and Fanuc control experience.


  • Ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Familiar with reading G-Code
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to organize and plan work processes.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines set forth in the production schedule.
